A Brief Encounter (The Redhill Affair)

Sitting at Redhill station, a train pulls in. A stranger looks from the window and smiles. Her smile speaks of self-consciousness, flirtation, warmth, decision. Shoulder length dark hair, loving eyes, perfect lips. I smile back. The train splutters and we know we’ll never see each other again. My love, farewell.
